NZ8911 : No respect for Captain Cook

taken 4 years ago, near to Whitby, North Yorkshire, Great Britain

No respect for Captain Cook
No respect for Captain Cook
As ever, the structure is a handy perch for avian feet. The statue of Captain Cook looks over Whitby's harbour.
Cook was born further north in Marton, which is now part of Middlesbrough. See square NZ5116. He spent time as an apprentice in nearby Staithes and then in the town of Whitby. Cook made three great voyages, producing maps as he charted new lands and islands. He met his end in Kealakakua Bay, Hawaii.
