Remains of a pair of powder mills beside the River Kennall
Seven of these pairs of mills existed, powered by water from leats running behind them and discharging through their wheel pits into the river. They were operated by the Kennall Gunpowder Company from 1812 until abut 1910, when the development of alternative explosives such as dynamite had reduced the demand for gunpowder.
