NZ9701 : Old Railway Cinder Track

taken 4 years ago, near to Ravenscar, North Yorkshire, Great Britain

Old Railway Cinder Track
Old Railway Cinder Track
Remains of the dismantled Scarborough - Whitby railway. The track ballast was made from cinders rather than crushed stone, hence, many locals call it the Cinder Track. It now forms 21 miles (34.4 kms) of Route 1 of the National Cycle Network. To the left is the entrance to the quarry where locally mined rock, mixed with human urine was used in the alum industry.
