The Ballroom, Mar Lodge
The Ballroom, Mar Lodge
A remarkable room decorated with nearly 2500 red deer stag heads with antlers shot on the estate over many years. The ballroom is in a separate 19th century wooden building next to the main lodge. It was originally used for dances put on for the estate gillies, who were then socially separate from those in the 'Big House'.
Nowadays the lodge and estate are National Trust for Scotland properties and the room is used for functions and weddings.
