Amlwch Port
Boats in the harbour of Amlwch Port. The lifeboat is the newly built Tamar class RNLB Kiwi, funded largely by a 2.2m bequest from a New Zealand born former merchant seaman, Reginald James Clark, who had experienced three torpedo attacks in the Second World War, one of which had resulted in a rescue by the RNLI. It is allocated to Moelfre, replacing its former Tyne class RNLB Robert & Violet, whose final launch had taken place on 24 May 2013. Kiwi is in the harbour here as a temporary measure, pending the rebuilding of Moelfre Lifeboat Station to be able to house the larger new boat (see SH5186 : Moelfre Lifeboat Station).

The dry dock on the right dates from around 1870 and was formed by expanding by blasting a natural creek, Porth Cwch y Brenin. It was built by Nicholas Treweek who operated a shipbuilding yard here. Grade II listed - see LinkExternal link.
