Ledgard Bridge Mills - steam engine
Ledgard Bridge Mills - steam engine
The power of the original single cylinder beam engine SE2019 : Beam engine, Ledgard Bridge Mills was increased by "pusher compounding" with this horizontal engine taking steam at a high pressure and exhausting to the original beam engine cylinder at a lower pressure.

This shows the Lumbs governor and the gear driven transverse shaft carrying the two eccentrics for the Corliss valve cylinder. There is a Lumbs recorder to the left of the governor base.

The engine is now stored outdoors and I am sorry that I can no longer enjoy the ambience of what was a magnificent site. The mill itself is now converted to flats and is by no means the best example of such a conversion (in my opinion anyway).
