TQ3479 : Dockley Road railway bridge

taken 4 years ago, near to Bermondsey, Southwark, Great Britain

Dockley Road railway bridge
Dockley Road railway bridge
The road passes under the site of Spa Road railway station the first railway station in London, as for a short time in 1836 this was the original terminus of the London and Greenwich Railway before the line was extended to London Bridge. See TQ3479 : Spa Road railway bridge - plaque. The arrangement with the road dividing either side of a row of central piers is unusual, but there are other examples between here and Greenwich.
