Drystane dyke over Carn Liath
Drystane dyke over Carn Liath
The purpose of this substantial wall is not entirely clear, as it doesn't provide a clear, stock-proof boundary. It starts life well to the south of here, and at the bottom of the hill, in NO1794. But it just ceases to exist a couple of hundred yards short of the summit area, at the NO1697 : Shelter on Carn Liath Was it built to keep Victorian estate workers busy during the otherwise 'slack' months of the year, and then they all went to war before it was finished?
