Local resident Jean Bishop has collected more than 100,000 for charity, receiving donations whilst dressed in a bee costume. The 'Bee Lady' recently won a 'Pride of Britain Award', presented by actor David Walliams. In honour of her achievement, one of the two K6 telephone kiosks outside Telephone House has been repainted in black and yellow, with antennae affixed to the roof. The new-look kiosk was unveiled on 15 October 2013.

The K6 cast-iron telephone kiosk was designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott, 1935. Lacking the royal crown and cream-painted, unique to the former Hull Corporation Telephone Department. Further information: LinkExternal link
