An ancient water tank built to store water for the houses on Highgate Kendal
Almost completely overgrown and scarcely distinguishable in the undergrowth is a water tank, built some two hundred years ago (?) to supply water to the houses on Highgate in Kendal. It is directly behind the Brewery Art Centre and perhaps was used by the brewers. It is built on the rocky slope down from Bowling Fell. It is not clear to me how they filled the tank. There is no nearby stream on the surface.
