Wheathampstead: Former Great Northern Railway line to Luton
Wheathampstead: Former Great Northern Railway line to Luton
The Great Northern Railway opened their single track branch line connecting Welwyn and Luton, then Dunstable, in 1860. It closed 105 years later in 1965. This is the former trackbed looking in the direction of Harpenden East station from just west of Leasey Bridge Lane. This section of the former railway now forms a somewhat muddy part of National Cycle Network Route 57.
