SH7682 : Dipping beds

taken 4 years ago, near to Gogarth, Conwy, Great Britain

Dipping beds
Dipping beds
A view along the strike of the beds to the west end of Bishop's Quarry. The bedding of the Carboniferous Limestone is manifestly away from the camera, while the distant outcrops dip towards the camera. This illustrates the folding of the strata very well, and the synclinal structure of the area. For more details on the limestone quarry see SH7682 : Bishops Quarry.
