Old Course of the Cuckmere River
Old Course of the Cuckmere River
A view of the sharp meander on the eastern side of the river from the car park. The meander was caused by the construction of the causeway during the medieval period built as both a route across the valley and as a sea defence to prevent flooding further up the valley. The wooden fence runs across the open space between the river and the car park to prevent people launching boats, the official area is the slipway next to the boathouse a little to the west.
