King's College heraldry
These are thought to be the arms of William Gordon (died 1577), last pre-Reformation bishop of Aberdeen and Chancellor of King's College: LinkExternal link : see P. J. Anderson, Proc. Soc. Antiq. Scotland, 1888, vol 23, p 80 (available on-line). The colours are puzzling: the Gordon arms are gold boars' heads on a blue shield, but here it is rendered in the same colours as Bishop Elphinstone's arms (see: LinkExternal link ).
