The pumping station is a Grade II Listed Building and the English Heritage website describes it thus:- "Pumping station. Circa 1838-41. Brown brick, off-set and boarded eaves, hipped slate roof. Tall square brick chimney with blue brick band and restored stone head. Front to canal and left end each have doorway with semi-circular arch, that at left end with double doors. Rear has 3 windows with semi-circular heads and cast iron glazing bars ornamented at intersections. One window boarded up."
