West Coast Main Line: Northampton Loop junction
West Coast Main Line: Northampton Loop junction
This is the view from Courteenhall Bridge where the Northampton Loop of the West Coast Main Line peels off to the right from the main route to Rugby on the left. This is the northern end of the Roade Cutting, engineered by Stephenson in 1838.

On this day the Northampton Loop was closed for engineering works and the unusual sight of a road lorry with a cherry picker mounted on a self-powered railway trailer trundling southwards along the track was captured by the photographer.
