West Coast Main Line: Roade Cutting (2)
West Coast Main Line: Roade Cutting (2)
When it was completed in 1838 the cutting was regarded as a major engineering achievement. This is the view looking south from the Hyde Road bridge. The Northampton Loop lines are on the left, and have yet to join with the main line from Rugby on the right. In the distance is the A508 road bridge and beyond it the site of the former Roade railway station.
