Just off Durham Road is a recently constructed car parking area, that replaces the original lay-by, a path from which leads to this huge monument - huge not only in size, but also by weight. The 20 metre tall sculpture with a wingspan of 54 metres, weighs in at 200 tonnes.
It's rather odd that no thought was put into the fact that people would naturally walk away from the front of the sculpture to view it from a distance. This has led to erosion of the soil because no path was provided.
The sculpture was created by the renowned sculpture Antony Gormley.
