Mickle Trafford Mill - south gearing
Mickle Trafford Mill - south gearing
This is the gearing driven by the south wheel and turning three pairs of stones on the floor above. The windlass on the left opens the sluice to feed the wheel on the other side of the wall. The hurst framing is wooden and elderly but the gearing and tentering arrangements are at least in part more modern. The pit wheel is a wooden clasp arm construction with an iron ring gear to drive the wallower.
