Children who visit the Charmouth Heritage Coast Centre LinkExternal link should not expect to find something like SY3693 : The Charmouth Dinosaur - Scelidosaurus. However yours truly (now entering his 2nd childhood) walked along the beach with the children sat down on a rock and scratched around in the gravel nearby. I found a fossil sponge (top centre) a piece of an ammonite (top right) LinkExternal link (Archive LinkExternal link ) , many rod-like fragments of belemnites LinkExternal link (Archive LinkExternal link ) , and a piece of fossil wood (bottom right). I also found some lumps of iron pyrites and a piece of mudstone which had, in modern times had holes dug in it by piddocks LinkExternal link. All the children seem to have found something.
