The County Hall annexe was demolished back in 2009, see SE3221 : County Hall annexe, Bond Street view, leading the way for Jubilee Gardens to be created, which were officially opened in Sept ’12.
Named to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, the focal point of these gardens is the ‘Art of Yorkshire’, the award-winning 2011 Chelsea Flower Show entry, which was kindly donated to Wakefield by Welcome to Yorkshire, the county’s tourism agency. SE3221 : Wavy wall A serpentine shaped wall also known as a Crinkle Crankle Wall, its curving lines give it added strength avoiding the need for buttressing. The style dates from the mid-C18.
