Forestry south of Penycloddiau
Forestry south of Penycloddiau
A very different form of woodland than would have occupied these slopes below Penycloddiau when the iron-age hill fort was occupied, the characteristic patchwork of parcels of different introduced trees (larch and spruce) now marks this area as farmed forestry. Offa's Dyke path skirts along the top edge of the forest, to gain the open felltop well before the archaeological interest, which is protected from economic activity like this.
