Command Centre?
Command Centre?
The WW2 bunker here is at ground level, it is covered with an earth mound now covered with trees. It does not appear to have much in the way of gun mountings etc. It is much bigger than the average pillbox about 20m long, the door here is in the middle. There is a public right of way in the wood that goes right over the top via earth steps. The most likely explanation for it’s use is as a supplementary command or communications centre for the extensive network of gun batteries that can still be found all over the island.
