The Watch House seen across Wood Close
The Watch House seen across Wood Close
As The Watch House is situated in the corner of St Matthew's Churchyard and dates from 1828, I assume it was built here to deter grave robbers. The church has a later criminal connection in the fact that the funeral services of all three Kray brothers took place in St Matthew's Church.
