Traeth Bychan
Traeth Bychan
A bay between Benllech and Moelfre. The submarine Thetis was beached here in 1939 after she sank on her maiden voyage in 1939. Of those onboard, 99 perished and four survived. All could have been rescued as the stern of the sub was always above the surface. Mistakes and bungling led to the loss of the crew and workers onboard. Taken from SH515847
