NM7701 : Graveyard, Craignish

taken 18 years ago, near to Aird, Argyll And Bute, Scotland

Graveyard, Craignish
Graveyard, Craignish
The ruined building in the graveyard at Craignish is St Maelrubha's Chapel, Kilmory, a building of uncertain date, possibly c. 1200. It is rubble-walled, obling, gabled and roofless. The church and churchyard probably conceal traces of an earlier site. Called Kilmorow in 1580, Kilmolruy and Kilmorie in 1626; Kilmory was the ancient name of Craignish.
