SK251635 The millstone grit quarries of the Derwent valley sent millstones to a wide area. Before railways and roads came, they were brought down first by pack animals and then by river or sea. Here some "stock in hand" lies in the undergrowth, near to the Stanton Moor hand worked 16th and 17th century quarries.
