Looking along the runway towards Broadford. Ashaig airstrip was built by the Royal Engineers of the British Army and opened in April 1972. Loganair operated a scheduled service between Ashaig and Glasgow between 1972 until 1988. Recently the airstrip has been home to the annual Isle of Skye Music Festival LinkExternal link

Trivia: The airstrip appears briefly near the beginning of the 1980 film "Flash Gordon".
