Haggerston Dovecote
This may originally have been a tower used to shelter cattle from Scottish raiders before conversion into a windmill and then a dovecote, sometime between the 17th and 19th centuries. It had a conical, tiled roof that seems to have fallen in. This shows some of the 500+ brick nesting boxes and the remains of a rotating ladder which was used to reach the boxes. A number of pigeons were inside when I visited.
