Repairing the B5289
Repairing the B5289
In November 2013 part of the B5289 Borrowdale road fell away into Derwent Water. For a couple of months there were temporary traffic lights, but in February 2014 the road was completely closed (except to pedestrians) for six weeks to allow repair work to get under way. The result was much congestion on the narrow road on the west side of the lake.
Work is still continuing, but there is now (April 2014) a single lane open, again with traffic lights.
