I was pleasantly surprised to find such a straightforward ford across the stream, which rises on the flat boggy plateau just east of here - I had expected a boggy quagmire rather than a well-defined stream. Only a minute later I crashed through a crust on the slope out of this ditch and found myself with one leg knee-deep in a hole in the bog...
