Crossing of the Castle Eden Walkway with Green Lane
Crossing of the Castle Eden Walkway with Green Lane
Castle Eden Walkway runs along the track of the old railway between Stockton and Wellfield. It was built in the 1870's and initially carried freight and passengers but the latter services were withdrawn in 1931. The railway finally closed in the late 1960's. Green Lane would have been the main way to the deserted medieval village of Embleton to the east from Sedgefield. It is now a Public Bridleway.
