NX1665 : New Luce viaduct and steam train

New Luce viaduct and steam train
New Luce viaduct and steam train
A double hauled steam train excursion from Edinburgh Waverley Station to Stranraer, seen here crossing the viaduct over the Main Water of Luce just to the northwest of New Luce village. The train is double hauled by two 'Black 5' class steam locomotives, numbers 44871 and 45407.
My thanks to Chris Allen for the following information: The name board 'Great Britain VII' on the front engine refers to the special excursion itself, rather than being the name of the engine (as I had originally believed). Most Black 5's were not given names, although a few have been in preservation, including the second engine seen here which is now called 'The Lancashire Fusilier'.
