TL4398 : Old River Nene, March

taken 11 years ago, 3 km from March, Cambridgeshire, Great Britain

Old River Nene, March
Old River Nene, March
This was one of the courses of the River Nene, before the 'new' River was cut in the nineteenth century. This waterway has also had the hand of man laid heavily upon it, but the 'new' river runs from Peterborough via the Dog In A Doublet sluice near Whittlesey, and then is tidal up through Wisbech. It outflows into The Wash beyond Sutton Bridge.
