SO9463 : The vegetable garden at Hanbury Hall
taken 10 years ago, near to Hanbury, Worcestershire, England
The vegetable garden at Hanbury Hall
Hanbury Hall was built by the wealthy chancery lawyer Thomas Vernon between 1701 and 1706. The formal gardens to the west of the house included a formal vegetable garden, a status symbol to show off to visitors, hence it's position adjacent to the drive. Reinstated in 2009 as part of the garden restoration programme,it is home to old varieties. (The main walled kitchen garden is elsewhere and has limited opening times.)
