Vintage buses at Catford bus garage
Several vintage buses were on display at the garage on 10th May, the occasion of the Garage Open Day. The bus on the left is RM 1 dating from 1954 which in 1956 was the first Routemaster to go into service. On the right is G 531, a Guy 'Arab' with Park Royal 'utility' bodywork built in accordance with wartime restrictions in 1945. It lasted in London Transport service only until 1952 and in 1953 moved to Burton-on-Trent where it remained in service for another fourteen years.
