Dobson's Mill - Bin Floor
This five sailed mill was built in 1813. There are three pairs of wind powered millstones and a further pair that could be driven by an external engine. The engine was originally steam driven but was replaced by a large diesel.

The mill and adjacent bakehouse remained in the family ownership until the 1960s when it was sold to the county council. Various village trusts have operated the mill and opened it to the public. A restrictive covenant prevents any commercial milling or baking.

The sails will be replaced in summer 2014. Unusually the mill has 'left handed' sails and rotates clockwise. The millstones are patterned with a mirror image of the normal stones. 'Left handed' mills were not uncommon but few seem to have survived.
