Glamis Castle Italian Garden
From the Glamis website:
"The Italian Garden, with its magnificent pleached beech bowers and herbaceous borders, dates back to 1910 when Cecilia, wife of the 14th Earl and mother of the late Queen Mother, employed a number of local workers to create a garden to resemble the one at her family home in Italy.
Among the features are the 17th century-style gazebos, a fountain and, at the main entrance, a wrought iron gate commemorating the 80th birthday of HM Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother. From the raised platform you can look down on the central parterre and the box hedges. These were carefully arranged in the shape of a fan so that when they were planted up with different coloured plants they would resemble a rainbow."
