Essex Water Company pumping station with a preserved inverted vertical triple expansion pumping engine. This is now the Museum of Power.
If I remember correctly, the day I was here was the same day that Thames Water had the official shut down ceremony for Waddon Well Pumping Station - the last UK waterworks with reciprocating steam engines. Hampton's steam turbines went on a little longer but were not as glamorous.
TL8308 : Beeleigh Mill This was a combined water and steam mill site but the watermill has long since burned down and only footings and water courses remain.
The steam mill has a Woolf compound beam engine and the only "elephant" boiler in the UK. The hurst frame remains but all the stones are gone. This is a site of great interest. It is usually open on Mills open and Heritage Open Days.
