School playing field
Opposite the old school at Hartburn is the field which was the school playing field. I went to Hartburn School and the then headmaster used to tell an intruiging story regarding the field. He was a keen local historian and claimed that the field was the site of the ancient village of Hartburn. The large stone being the remains of the village cross and the various mounds were remains of dwellings.
