I am indebted to Robert Edwards for the description he gives at TM3454 : The Ivy Lodge at Rendlesham Hall:

"In 1790, two lodges were built for Rendlesham Hall. The hall no longer stands but the lodges have survived, one being Woodbridge Lodge and the other being Ivy Lodge as pictured here. It was built to look like a Norman ruin."
