SO5827 : Infilled railway cutting at Backney

taken 10 years ago, near to Baysham, County of Herefordshire, England

Infilled railway cutting at Backney
Infilled railway cutting at Backney
The railway left Backney viaduct - SO5827 : Remains of Backney bridge - on an embankment, crossed a minor road on a bridge and passed into a cutting on its way to Hereford. In the 1980s, this cutting was used as a landfill site, and the embankment and road bridge demolished. I'm standing with my back to where the road bridge used to be and looking at the infilled cutting. Backney Halt - SO5827 : Backney Halt, near Ross-on-Wye - was on the left of this shot. You can just make out the road overbridge and Backney viaduct in Ben's shot.
