Partridges coming of age
These two red-legged partridges were so intent on squaring up to each other that they barely noticed my presence.
The farms and estates around here rear a lot of partridges and pheasants for the shoots, releasing them in summer. Around every corner there seemed to be a pair of partridges scrapping.
They would do better to keep a low profile: it is nearly July, and only a few weeks of fun and freedom left before the shooting starts.
