Stone bridge on North Fen Road, Glinton
The bridge, to the north of Glinton, is located at the "junction" of Brook Drain and South Drain. Until the late 1960s or early 1970s, when environmental protection legislation was much less strict than it is today, Brook Drain carried the effluent from a now defunct paper mill in the neighbouring village of Helpston. The water in the drain frequently changed colour depending on what type of paper was being produced at the time. During this period, this location was nicknamed locally "Stink Bridge". Thankfully, the water is now much less malodorous.
