Cross of the Ness, Chanonry
This stone is about 0.5m tall, and is on the fairway of Fortrose & Rosemarkie Golf Course, at Chanonry Ness. It is marked on the OS maps as the remains of a cross.

It is known as the "Cross of the Ness", and may have been associated with the nearby Fortrose Cathedral. This is reputed to be where Coinneach Odhar, the Brahan Seer, was burnt in a barrel of tar. It is also said to be where the last witch in Scotland was burnt.

The killing of the Brahan Seer is now marked by a memorial nearby, next to the lighthouse at Chanonry Point - NH7455 : Memorial to the Brahan Seer
