Skiffs moored upstream from Richmond Bridge
On this July evening they all happened to be moored pontoon-fashion, line astern.
I'm pretty sure that these are all hire boats. Richmond has been something of a resort for centuries, and boats have been offered for hire along this stretch of river for longer than anyone can remember. I have no doubt, though, that these days the customers will have changed. In my younger days it was local youths who liked to show they could handle one of these boats - these days Richmond is a destination for global tourism.
