Carboniferous Limestone 1
Carboniferous Limestone 1
The rock outcrop of the Great Orme presents one of the finest vertical sections of the Carboniferous Limestone in North Wales, but it can be frustrating for photographers because the north and east facing cliffs are in shadow for so much of the day. Early Summer mornings are a different matter! While the Marine Drive is often running in an artificial cut, most of the cliffs are entirely natural and of great height. A vertical scale is provided by a distant, senior Geo-spaniel.
