Two links to the past - Newington Bagpath, Gloucestershire
In this view of the lane starting its climb towards the former Newington Bagpath parish church there are two links to the past. One is the Cotswold drystone wall which has been such a distinctive feature of this landscape for centuries, wallers passing their skills on to the next generation to continue this tradition. The second link is the sheep, harking back to the days of the Cotswold Lion breed and the woollen industry - the industry which produced much wealth and resulted in some fine churches in the area, paid for in part by the profits of the wool merchants. Their legacy in stone lives on today, for the enjoyment of residents and visitors to this popular area. Time photo taken 4.50 pm BST (British Summer Time).
