Hydraulic Sewage Lift
Hydraulic Sewage Lift
The pump is known locally as the "pigeon cote" due to its formal features. When sewers were laid at Christleton, it was established that it would discharge into Caldy Brook and eventually into the river Dee. The Chester Water Company considered that a sewage pump was necessary for the purpose and it making was approved by the local council. After WWII, the pump was in need of repairs and it was decided to build an electric pumping station.
