SK5639 : New Castle House, Castle Boulevard, Nottingham

taken 12 years ago, near to Nottingham, England

New Castle House, Castle Boulevard, Nottingham
New Castle House, Castle Boulevard, Nottingham
An advanced design, built in 1931-33 for William Hollins & Co., manufacturers of Viyella fabric. The architect was Frank Broadhead. Concrete framed but what is most striking is the prevalence of glass. If Gropius had come to Nottingham ... That said, close up the Art Deco tradition is more prominent (SK5739 : Detail of New Castle House, Castle Boulevard, Nottingham). Grade II listed.
Converted to offices in 1987-91.
